Here it is
The above quote pretty much sums it up. I created this site to share what I've learned over the years, tryin' to get in the music game. That's it. And dude, if it weren't for Cirocco and the book he created, this site would have been a long time coming. Having someone who's been in the game since back in the day share his knowledge, and compile the knowledge of some of the best in the music business into this amazing book has made the task I set out to do (making this site) easy as pie. I can't thank him enough.
So you already copped the book, why do you need to come check this site out? Because we're going to provide even more info on here than what's in the book. That's right, this site will be updated on the regular with new info yall ain't heard yet. Are we going to charge you for that? No. You can come back here whenever and check for new stuff.
We intend to make this the best resource there is for urban artists struggling to get that first record deal, and producers tryin' to slang those beats. Stay a while and have a look around, leave some feedback in the guestbook. I look forward to hearing from you.
Peace,
Matty G.
More About Music Powers
The Music Powers book is what our publishing company Music Powers - iMedia / WRM, considers a better book & resource guide for Hip Hop and R&B/Pop artists, songwriters and producers. Our book “The Music Powers That Be" is what we truly believe to be the best help available for unsigned urban music talent. Cirocco originally put the Music Powers book together to help his own circle of (major label) signed artists & established producers - who either needed answers for music business problems, advice & strategies to make better career decisions or just needed the best contacts - to stay on top of this ever-changing music game. Now the focus is to help serious undiscovered talent; unsigned artists, songwriters & producers that need a little help or a way in through sound professional advice, music business information, and music industry contacts - very reputable contacts that can actually help - if you have the skills!
Instead of relying solely on the opinion of one person, the chapters, articles and advice that's offered is a compilation of guidance from many successful music industry professionals - put together, and produced by one author: Charles "Cirocco" Jones. Music Powers is a tool - to be used to help talent make the best choices to get in the business and also succeed in the business.
We have exclusive inside advice and tips from Grammy winners, Grammy nominees, to history making #1 Hit songwriters and producers. We have the only book for both new and established producers & DJs about the whole Selling Beats game. Music Powers also has Label advice by Vince Phillips, Esq. (CEO of Lil’ Jon’s label BME), DJ Toomp (Producer for T.I., Boyz In Da Hood, Ludacris), Mr. Collipark / DJ Smurf (Collipark Records / TVT, producer for Ying Yang Twins, David Banner, Young Jeezy), Kevin Wales (112, B-5, Dallas Austin and Monica) to questions answered by Joel Katz of Greenberg Traurig, who represents many of the world’s most successful artists, producers and record label A&R. We even have advice for those seeking radio play from Emperor Searcy of HOT 107.9, AUR, and Radio One
Music Powers is not trying to compete with books like All You Need To Know About The Music Business by Donald Passman or This Business of Music. In fact, Cirocco highly suggests both of these incredible reference books. We just believe that our Music Powers book has some very powerful information also – only it’s explained very simple and it’s bundled with other resources like real-world advice from the industry insiders that are responsible for much of what's going on in today's hip hop, rap and r&b music industry. This combination of advice, music business essentials, connections and resources simply works better for creative folk; Producers, Songwriters, Singers & Rappers.
